Stephen “Moyer Kids Theatre Fund” for Brentwood Theatre

Patron of Brentwood Theatre, Stephen Moyer has lent his name to the “MOYER KIDS THEATRE FUND”.
The initiative was launched last year under the name “Steve’s Coach Fund”, many True Blood and Stephen Moyer fans generously supported this fundraiser and made it possible for hundreds of children to enjoy the wonderful Christmas show “The Twits” in the Brentwood Theatre.
The “Moyer Kids Theatre Fund” enables Brentwood Theatre to provide transportation at a low-cost so children can enjoy an enriching, live theatre experience regardless of income. The children who were able to attend “The Twits” sent the most touching, joyful letters of thanks.
The 2009 Christmas show was a huge success that the theatre would like to repeat and the planning for the next Christmas show has already begun. The theatre’s administrator Mark Reed is thrilled to announce that the new show will be “The Plotters of Cabbage Patch Corner” written by David Wood.
“The Plotters of Cabbage Patch Corner” tells the story of a group of insects living in a garden. Their existence is always overshadowed by the humans – the Big Ones. Infuriated by constant “spraying” one group calls for rebellion, strikes and ruination of the garden, the other group opposes and war is declared. Fortune swings one way and the other in a series of bitter campaigns. The garden goes to ruin and the Big Ones decide to build a garage on it. This brings the insects to their senses. They combine to restore the garden to its original beauty and thus preserve their home.
Looking further ahead in the future Brentwood Theatre would like to expand the children’s theatre even more with the 2011 summer show “Tom’s Midnight Garden” based on the novel by Philippa Pearce.
It is the goal of the “Moyer Kids Theatre Fund” to raise funds for Brentwood Theatre and give the children of Essex the possibility to experience the joy and the thrill of live theatre. The fund will be used to help finance the children’s theatre productions, provide low-cost tickets and rent coaches to bring the children to the theatre.

Brentwood Theatre is a small community theatre that depends on donations, gifts and volunteers and to achieve all this at least £5000 (over $7500) are needed for the Christmas show alone. That is more than double the amount that was raised last year, so even more children will be able to attend the show.

US citizens can donate by check; Brentwood Theatre can cash US checks without paying a fee.

Brentwood Theatre uses the PayPal Invoice system. All you have to do is send your email address and the amount you wish to donate (in $ or £) to Mark Reed at [email protected] and you will receive an invoice by email containing a special PayPal link for you to click that will take you to a secure PayPal page where you can make your credit card payment.
